How to use Interpolation Fields in Email & SMS

How to auto-populate contact, user, and company information in your email and SMS templates.

Before You Begin: What Are Interpolations?

Interpolations can be used in email and SMS templates to auto-populate user and contact information (including information from Encompass). For example, you can start an email template with "Hi {firstname}" instead of simply "Hi." When the email is sent to the contact, the interpolation field {firstname} will pull in the contact's first name automatically.

You can also use interpolations to pull information into your signature, such as your Website link or Application Link, either as plain text or as hyperlinks — making your signature dynamic.

Good to know

The fields below are your default contact interpolation fields. Any custom fields you've added will also appear in the Interpolation button within your email and SMS template editor.

Contact's Information

Use these fields to pull in details about the contact the message is being sent to.

User's Information

Use these fields to pull in details about the sending agent/user. The agent is referring to the person sending the SMS/email.

Website and application links can be inserted as plain text or turned into clickable hyperlinks — great for making your signature dynamic without editing it every time.

Company Information

Information entered into the Company Profile can be put into SMS/Emails by using these interpolations.

When Referring to a Contact

Use these fields when a template needs to reference a contact in the third person (for example, in a notification sent to someone else about that contact).
